iOS Audio & OpenAL / Beginning iPhone Games Development (CocoaHeads Silicon Valley August 2011)
Why Stack Overflow recommends it
Stack Overflow users link it when answering questions about OpenAL on iOS, especially memory handling, buffer extensions, and low-latency game audio.
Recommended by 2 people across 2 different months, 2011 to 2013.
What it is
A roughly two-hour CocoaHeads Silicon Valley talk by Eric Wing, author of Beginning iPhone Games Development, on iOS audio and cross-platform OpenAL. The first third covers iOS audio APIs and the rest goes deep on OpenAL, including extensions like alBufferDataStatic.

alBufferDataStatic is a "sharp knife" with a bunch of hidden caveats. I recommend watching this video: [this video]

What you need is lower-level API for handling sounds. Try OpenAL. Some tips here [LINK] with resources on GitHub [LINK] . This lecture [this video] also can be useful.

I have been doing some research on the best way to program a music game for iOS similar to Tap Tap Revenge, Guitar Hero, Rock Band etc. Portability is a plus. This video [this video] explains that Open AL has some great ways of handling sounds, playing multiple sounds at once and recycling memory. I have also come across Cocoas2d Denshion for handling audio at low latency. This article [LINK] states that HTML5 is terrible for audio playback especially polyphony. He goes on to state that Phonegap's Media class works nicely and by using the native plugin model you can create a low latency solution with Phonegap If you were to choose an API which would you choose to create a low latency audio based
