Why Stack Overflow recommends it

Stack Overflow users link it as a source for Crockford's views on avoiding `new`, `this` and classical inheritance, and for his DEC64 proposal as a fix for JavaScript number rounding.

What it is

A conference talk by Douglas Crockford at code::dive 2017 on 'the better parts' of JavaScript and programming style. It covers topics such as class-free object creation, factory functions replacing generators, the downsides of inheritance, and the DEC64 number format.

A nice watch I might suggest with some amazing ideas in the way of adopting DEC64: [this video] (Douglas Crockford on code::dive 2017) And an implementation in C [LINK]

As one reference, composition/ADT is like class-free said in [LINK] where `new Person, new Job` in `$employee = new Employee(new Person, new Job);` is like `spec`. [LINK] adds *one more* disadvantage of Inheritance that code re-usablility is inhibited beyond those listed in video [this video] 45:31.

I think i have a grasp of the generator functions, don't know if i would really use them but i found something that Douglas Crockford said that is particularly interesting. In this video [this video] at 26:00 he says that generators can be replicated using a factory type pattern and normal functions. I am unable to formulate 'how' that might be possible. Any program proving that would be cool to look at.

Cites ESV · 2018-07 · Stack Overflow · on “Why does Crockford say not to use the new keyword if he advises us to use it for prototypal inheritance?”

As of November 2017, Douglas Crockford says he has stopped using `new`, `Object.create()`, _and_ `this`: [this video]

Now one newer lecture [this video] is available with almost same slides but a bit more detailed like 5 items listed in Prototypal inheritance disadvantages instead of 4 (actually the added 5 is said in the old video but not shown in the slide).
