Dynamic Javascript Scraping - Web scraping with Beautiful Soup 4 p.4
Why Stack Overflow recommends it
Stack Overflow users link it when answering how to scrape JavaScript-generated content in Python without Selenium, usually via PyQt, and when asking how to port its PyQt4 code to PyQt5.
Recommended by 7 people across 4 different months, 2017 to 2020.
What it is
Part 4 of sentdex's Beautiful Soup 4 web scraping series, showing how to scrape pages whose content is filled in by JavaScript. He builds a small PyQt4 web client that renders the page, then passes the resulting HTML to Beautiful Soup. A demo page on pythonprogramming.net simulates the dynamic data.

While Selenium might seem tempting and useful, it has one main problem that can't be fixed: performance. By calculating every single thing a browser does, you will need a lot more power. Even PhantomJS does not compete with a simple request. I recommend that you will only use Selenium when you really need to click buttons. If you only need javascript, I recommend PyQt (check [this video] to learn it). However, if you want to use Selenium, I recommend Chrome over PhantomJS. Many users have problems with PhantomJS where a website simply does not work in Phantom. Chrome can be headless (non-graphical) too! First, make sure you have installed ChromeDriver, which Selenium depends on for using Google C

Ok, thanks for the answers. Some links which helped me and may help you (if you're having the same question). [this video] Eventually i ended up with a selenium-phantomJS headless browser. Python browser emulator with JS support [LINK] Cheers!

@Anneso I can write solution for this task, but later, I think in 6-7 hours. As for now I'd recommend you to watch this videos and try to implement behavior by yourself. You need pyqt4. [this video] or [LINK] Or read this answers: [LINK] [LINK]

Can you please check this once. [this video] If you dont want to use selenium you can use PyQt4 library for this.

That table is loaded with js, so you first need a client that's able to run the js on that page and then parse the result...I believe selenium is the recommended tool for doing that. But you can also check this tutorial and see if it helps: [this video]

I tried your code first and I too got [email protected] Then I realized website might be loading that data through JavaScript. You can get your work done using selenium or any light browser. I have used PyQt5 library to open the page as it would be opened in a JavaScript enabled browser then I get the source code from it and perform normal BeautifulSoup code. Prerequisite installations commands (If you are windows user): To install PyQt5 : pip install pyqt5 PyQt5 windows distribution doesn't have PyQtWebEngine we need to install it separately: pip install PyQtWebEngine To render JavaScript based pages using pyqt4 I followed SentDex's video here : [this video] But it was for pyqt4. Javascript is rendered on the DOM so Beautiful Soup will not work as you want it to. You will have to make something that lets javascript run(eg: browser) so you can make your own browser using QT4 or the like. Sentdex had a good tutorial on it here: [this video] Otherwise, you could use Selenium: from selenium import webdriver import time drive = webdriver.Firefox() drive.get(' [LINK] ') time.sleep(5) html = driver.page_source

I'm doing Sentdex's PyQt4 YouTube tutorial right here [this video] . I'm trying to follow along but use PyQt5 instead. It's a simple web scraping app. I followed along with Sentdex's tutorial and I got here: [LINK] Now I'm trying to write the same application with PyQt5 and this is what I have: import os import sys from PyQt5.QtWidgets import QApplication from PyQt5.QtCore import QUrl, QEventLoop from PyQt5.QtWebEngineWidgets import QWebEnginePage from bs4 import BeautifulSoup import requests class Client(QWebEnginePage): def __init__(self, url): self.app = QApplication(sys.argv) QWebEnginePage.__init__(self) self.loadFinished.connect(self._loadFinished) self.load(QUrl(url)) self.app.exec_() def
Cites Abhay · 2018-03 · Stack Overflow · on “How to scrape Dynamic JavaScript based website using Python REQUESTS and BeautifulSoup?”
I am Scraping [LINK] to collect college informations. On the webpage below each College only one Course Name is given and rest of courses are scripted in JavaScript. For eg. +13 More Courses+ So I don't get their info when I use requests.get(url) . How I can scrape such details using REQUESTS and BeautifulSoup? I use Anaconda Jupyter Notebook as IDE. I have heard about Selenium but don't know about it. Since Selenium is bit heavy is there any possible lite alternative to load all the JavaScript contents at once. I have also heard about Splash framework. If anyone knows about it and how to integrate it with Python Requests and BeautifulSoup please answer. Things I have tried 1.PyQt Reference:

Something I stumbled upon ([here] [this video] ): import bs4 as bs import sys import urllib.request from PyQt5.QtWebEngineWidgets import QWebEnginePage from PyQt5.QtWidgets import QApplication from PyQt5.QtCore import QUrl class Page(QWebEnginePage): def __init__(self, url): self.app = QApplication(sys.argv) QWebEnginePage.__init__(self) self.html = '' self.loadFinished.connect(self._on_load_finished) self.load(QUrl(url)) self.app.exec_() def _on_load_finished(self): self.html = self.toHtml(self.Callable) print('Load finished') def Callable(self, html_str): self.html = html_str self.app.quit() def main(): page = Page(' [LINK] ') soup = bs.BeautifulSoup(page.html, 'html.parser') js_test = soup.fin
