Follow this youtube tutorial on how to correctly Create Splash Screen in Flutter App the Right Way in 2021. Ensure to create the launch_background.xml file in both drawable and drawable-v21 folders inside the android/app/src/main/res folder. Create Splash Screen in Flutter App the Right Way in 2021 [this video] If you are using Flutter 2.5, remove the following line in your AndroidManifest.xml file since Flutter 2.5 has no need for it anymore as mentioned here --> android splash migration [LINK] <meta-data android:name="io.flutter.embedding.android.SplashScreenDrawable" android:resource="@drawable/launch_background"/>

Are you using a dark theme on your phone? Like, do your Messenger app, email app etc have a dark background? And if so, if you change that to a light theme, does that give your splash screen a white background? (I was thinking since your Android manifest talks about "normal theme"... That's gotta be the overall theme of the phone, right? Perhaps remove that from the manifest?) Also, if you follow this method to set your splash screen, including background color, does it help?: [this video]

Problem: Changing/configuring the file launch_background.xml at android module does not have any effect on launching/splash screen i.e. The white screen at startup continues to show until flutter app draws the first frame. I'm following up instructions to customize the splash screen; [this video] However, changes to <item android:drawable="@android:color/black" /> have no visual effect. The same goes for the image which does not show (see right bellow) <bitmap android:gravity="center" android:src="@mipmap/fist" /> </item> Notice that this is a brand new project, created by the flutter plugin in Android studio (details below) Many thanks, Here is the development environment: Flutter: % flutter -v
