You are writing your React code in JSX which is not understood by the script tag. In order to run the React code either use the webpack or browserify to bundle your jsx into a .js file and then include that .js file in the script tag or in order to test your code use the JSFIDDLE [LINK] to write your code . It has integration for JSX. Sample webpack.config.js var webpack = require('webpack'); var path = require('path'); var BUILD_DIR = path.resolve(__dirname, 'src'); var APP_DIR = path.resolve(__dirname, 'src'); var config = { entry: APP_DIR + '/index.jsx', output: { path: BUILD_DIR, filename: 'bundle.js' } }; module.exports = config; index.jsx import React from 'react'; import ReactDOM from

Answer: I don't know, but if so, you shouldn't do it . Why?: Gulp is meant to be a task runner on developing side, running and controlled by a shell (terminal /command line), not on web / browser side. You can use React with Gulp. Web behaviour is handle on React side. You can easily learn React, there are a lot of documentation and tutorials. I like this one [this video]

React is great, but when having used Javascript (as it seems you have), it can be a bit tricky to understand and difficult to adjust (from experience). There is a great youtube tutorial on React by learncodeacademy [this video] , which really helps you understand react [LINK] . You may also want to look at create react app [LINK] for an easy way to set up a React project. Now to your question :) This is not a good practice. React has its own "window.onload" called componentDidMount [LINK] Also you should not be using getElementBy unless absolutely necessary. The beautiful thing about react is using states. You css value should be a state. An example of this would be: import React, { Component } f

I imagine there are many - I would search YouTube for React Class components (for example, this series would be one of many: [this video] ). Just keep in mind that referencing a method name will store it for the onClick event. Calling the method (with parenthesis) will store the returned value instead of saving that method for later. It's just another variable.

webpack --watch is not working but the webpack does, when I edit some changes in my js the watcher will not make any updates in my DOM(html) so I will have to restart(do webpack again) so that it will update the changes. codes that might have the bug: package.json: `{ "name": "samplereact", "version": "1.0.0", "main": "webpack.config.js", "dependencies": { "babel-loader": "^6.2.4", "babel-plugin-add-module-exports": "^0.1.4", "babel-plugin-react-html-attrs": "^2.0.0", "babel-plugin-transform-class-properties": "^6.9.0", "babel-plugin-transform-decorators-legacy": "^1.3.4", "babel-preset-es2015": "^6.9.0", "babel-preset-react": "^6.5.0", "babel-preset-stage-0": "^6.5.0", "core-js": "^2.4.0", "

I have been trying to learn React and Webpack from ReactJS Tutorials [this video] . My issue is when I run webpack from within the top level directory of all my files, it takes usually around 62392ms . However, in the tutorials his takes 1394ms . I've read that having exclude 's should help increase performance time, but I already have excluded node_modules . I've tried switching my loader to just babel and it brought my webpack time down to 13183ms , but that still seems awfully slow, especially when it's only transpiling one file( client.js ). Is there anyone who knows why running the webpack command is so slow, as most of the other stackoverflow answers seem to point to include/excluding paths
