What it is

A 2017 NDC conference talk by Steve Sanderson that is almost entirely live demos of recent and upcoming browser APIs, including service workers, offline caching and access to device features. It also includes an early look at running .NET in the browser, which later became Blazor. The stage camera failed, so the recording has audio and slides only.

Cited in 1 Wikipedia article, including Blazor.

As of 25 april 2018, we tried iOS 11.4 beta and it seem to resolve the issue. According the the deployement timeline, it should be available in about a month according to this [LINK] . However until then moving to service workers might be a good idea. Here [LINK] is an example from google. Here [this video] is a video which gives an introduction to the subject I will add an example if we get to move to Service workers

@MichalKrawiec I recently seen this video [this video] which shows an usage of ServiceWorkers, it seem much easier than what we initially thought. Hoping it can help you.

I was watching Steve Sanderson's NDC presentation on up-and-coming web features [this video] , and saw his caching example as a prime candidate for an application I am developing. I couldn't find the code, so I have typed it up off the Youtube video as well as I could. Unfortunately it doesn't work in Chrome (which is also what he is using in the demo) It fails with Uncaught TypeError: fetch(...).then(...).timeout is not a function at self.addEventListener.event . I trawled through Steve's Github [LINK] , and found no trace of this, nor could I find anything on the NDC Conference page //inspiration: // [this video] //self.importScripts('scripts/util.js'); console.log('Service Worker script running');

@StephenMuecke that is true in that case but not in general. Have you seen DNA (dot net anywhere) been launched inside a browser? I have :P [this video]

So I watched this demo from Steve Sanderson ( [this video] ) where he makes changed to his files and the change is instantly reflected in the front-end. I cannot get this to work on my machine. I have tried creating a Blazor app with several different hosting models, Web Assembly hosting, Web Assembly with ASP.NET backend and only server side hosting, but none of these models have the instant update feature. If I run from inside VS with IIS I need to manually reload the app. If I use dotnet watch run the app still needs to shut down and rebuild every time I make a change, which takes 20-30 seconds, and I still have to refresh my web page. This is way too long when you're making changes often and
