What it is

A PBS Space Time episode hosted by Matt O'Dowd that covers two things: the Hungarian Beryllium-8 decay anomaly that may hint at a fifth fundamental force, and the answer to the channel's Quantum Eraser lottery challenge. The second half explains why the delayed-choice quantum eraser cannot send information to the past.

Here is a youtube video that gives a better explanation of your idea (which is an extremely common misconception): Quantum Eraser Lottery Challenge | Space Time | PBS Digital Studios [LINK] . And here is the followup video where they explain why it doesn't work: [...] + Quantum Eraser Answer | Space Time | PBS Digital Studio [this video] . If we leave the detector in place, but "turn it off", then [the pattern on the screen] goes back to an interference pattern (indicative of a wave) because there was no measurement observed. And every test of Wheeler seems to validate it. You're mixing up two different experiments. In the delayed choice experiment, you're not deciding whether or not to have a de

@doublefelix Again you will have to look at the three videos to get exactly what you explained in your answer. You can check for yourself, starting from minute 4 in the last video of the series Quantum Eraser Answer [this video] It is sloppy to have put it in three videos but at least they took their time to explain all the important details compared to other channels.

Note that I'm looking for a layman explanations for these layman ideas. Introduction Can someone help me understand why my idea wouldn't work? Explain the the Delayed Choice Quantum Eraser? First, I saw this interpretation of the experiment: Video I [LINK] (at $4:30$) Then, an idea of how to "cheat on lottery", by sending information to the past: Video II [LINK] Then, explained why it would fail here: Video III [this video] (at $4:00$) But I have another idea of how to try something like that. Theoretical Experiment - predict future Leave the board on the earth, and the detectors A & B on the moon. Let's say you can send the first pairs to the earth board and their pairs to the moon detectors. If

Preamble: I'm quite aware I've been duped by sci-pop videos and maybe the Wikipedia. I'm asking this question precisely in order to correct the Wikipedia article and to make my own video debunking the retrocausality in DCQE. I'm desperately trying to get at least a superficial glimpse of quantum mechanics from science popularization YouTube channels (and in some degree from Coursera), and I think there's one important bit of information about the delayed choice quantum eraser (DCQE) experiment missing in all of the descriptions, even on PBS Space Time and FermiLab. Namely, this is difference between the double-slit experiment with electrons (or atoms, or even whole molecules) where detection
