Before start coding randomly, have a look at some android tutorials for example this is the best [this video] in my opinion . After you can start with coding. btw the solution is moving it inside the "onCreate" method: public class Alpha extends Activity { public static final String GAME_PREFERENCES = "GamePrefs"; @Override public void onCreate(Bundle savedInstanceState) { super.onCreate(savedInstanceState); setContentView(R.layout.main); SharedPreferences settings =getSharedPreferences(GAME_PREFERENCES,MODE_PRIVATE); SharedPreferences.Editor prefEditor = settings.edit(); prefEditor.putString("Gama x","Blue Spec"); prefEditor.putInt("Wave",292); prefEditor.commit(); } }

Here is an example of basic code that allows a user to access the camera once a button has been pushed in an app: Button camera = (Button) findViewById(R.id.button1); camera.setOnClickListener(new View.OnClickListener() { @Override public void onClick(View arg0) { Intent cameraIntent = new Intent(android.provider.MediaStore.ACTION_IMAGE_CAPTURE); if (cameraIntent.resolveActivity(getPackageManager()) != null) { startActivityForResult(cameraIntent, REQUEST_IMAGE_CAPTURE); } } }); button1 corresponds to the android id for button in the xml script. You can then use the object that you've set the button to to set the OnClickListener . Inside of the the camera.setOnclickListener brackets is what y

You are calling a method in a java from another java.. the method returning the text is in show_content class. you are calling the method in the MyActivity class. So the BookChapter method you are using, is not the one setting the text, it simply call the setContentview method. Plus you are missing the setContentView method in the second activity You have two activities but only a method fired, or you are missing a lot of code in the lines you wrote, or you have to start studying how android works before programming, I suggest you those videos [this video] . in my opinion they are the best for beginners Good luck

Take a look at this playlist [this video] , it's very popular and is used by new developers when they start android development. It explains what all you need to have downloaded to begin with android app development. You also need to download jdk, and specify the path to it. It will be more clear when you watch his first few videos.

I think you are using a default method from a clickable item, if so read this, if not go on Referring to the Clickable interface [LINK] , you can see that there are two methods: isChecked() is a getter and it only returns the value of the checked variable, as you can see inspecting(ie: it tells you whether a checkbox is checked or not): @ViewDebug.ExportedProperty @Override public boolean isChecked() { return mChecked; } There is also a setter , setChecked(boolean checked) This setter set the value of the property of the checked state of the clickable interface . (ie: is set a checkbox as checked or not) If you are not using a default clickable item/view, but you have your own method If the

if you create a method, fired by an event, you don't want the event to run all the code outside the method, right? :) this is the concept.. an event is a method running when something appens. so your if should be inside the event listener. Elseway you can put your if in another method and call it from the onclick listener. I suggest you to go back to some basic tutorial, I always suggest TheNewBoston's one [this video]

I don't know if I understood what you are looking for, but I tried to edit it to order a bit all components. The best way (imo) to order views between each other, is to use a RelativeLayout [LINK] which allows you to set toLeftOf , Above , Below , ... Try to have a look at this: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?> <RelativeLayout xmlns:android=" [LINK] " xmlns:tools=" [LINK] " android:layout_width="match_parent" android:layout_height="match_parent" xmlns:app=" [LINK] " tools:ignore="ExtraText"> <FrameLayout xmlns:android=" [LINK] " xmlns:tools=" [LINK] " android:id="@+id/container" android:layout_width="match_parent" android:layout_height="match_parent" android:background="#000" android:l
