I am using Blender 2.8 (Windows 10). I have now been able to create two editor panes in the same workspace ( see this Q/A [LINK] ). The new editor pane(s) is set to the same editor type as the existing pane. Trying to change one pane's editor type changes the other pane's editor type. How can you set them to different editor types? A tutorial suggestions this is possible [this video] (screenshots attached). this is my first post so let me know if I'm doing something wrong. I'm following this Blender Guru tutorial: [this video] At the 15:55 mark he changes Displacement to True, which I've done, but my result doesn't look like his. Everything up until this point has, and I can't see any differences between what he's done and what I've done. Mine looks like this instead: [LINK] And when he adds a Subdivision Surface modifier, it gets more bumps which make it look more ropey, but mine just goes back to looking completely smooth, like so: [LINK] Any advice on where I might be going wrong here?

I'm following Andrew Price's (Blender Guru's) tutorial on how to make photoreal rope in Blender. As part of the tutorial, we are applying material and displacement from a free texture from Poliigon (link to texture: [LINK] ). After applying the material and displacement, we switch the displacement from the "Bump" setting to the "True" setting and hit Tab twice to see the results (link to video at time where those instructions are given: [this video] ). In the video, the geometry of the mesh changes to have this very bumpy, ridiculous look. Mine looks like this instead: [LINK] As you can probably see, it is very flat and not textured at all. Does anyone know what I am doing wrong here? Any help wo

I've been following BlenderGuru's tutorial on ropes ( [this video] ). It's a bit outdated but I've managed to get past some of the differences introduced in 2.8. However, I have ran into a problem. My rope seems to have weird seams on the edges where the cylinders connect. I've checked and I don't have any double faces or vertices and the UV map lines up properly to each edge using 'Selected to Pixels'. [LINK] [LINK] [LINK] [LINK] Is there something added in 2.8 that I need to change? I'm really not sure what the problem could be.
