What it is
A 16-minute Android Studio tutorial from the Coding in Flow channel that shows how to run background work with JobScheduler. It builds a JobService, overrides onStartJob and onStopJob, sets JobInfo criteria such as network type, charging and persistence, and registers the service in the manifest.

you can use a job scheduler. [LINK] I think minimum time between operations is 15 mins so I think this will work for you. If that does not help here is a detailed tutorial from youtube. [this video]

I know, because I had problems when I worked with Beacons, that for devices running Oreo and above the background task doesn't work. For that devices I used JobScheduler.... That's a tutorial about it [this video] I hope that can help you out ;) Good luck

I am somewhat overwhelmed/confused by the number of options available to sync data with a web api and could use some help to understand the best option. I have a room database and want to sync parts of it at various times. There is one main set of data I want to sync more regularly. The other components are less important. I want to be able to interactively sync if necessary, but for the most part just have it done in the background. I needs to be done when the network is available, which it frequently is not, but I want to make sure it happens. I have been triggering a Volley call when an event happens in the app to update all the important records. The data syncs and updates the local Room
