What it is
A 23-minute Android tutorial from the Coding in Flow channel that shows how to build and start a foreground service. Use foreground Serive. For details on why the service will no longer work watch [LINK] It clearly says that background services will be stopped. For tutorial on Foreground Services watch: [this video] Remember you would also need to learn the notification channels starting Oreo. This guy has introduced that too.

This is my very first post here, so please don't blame me if I'm not as complete and clear as I have to be. The issue I am new to React native and I recently began to develop a react native app which could read my incoming SMS's aloud. I already achieved to retrieve the incoming messages and to read them aloud... But only if the app is the foreground. So, could you please advise me some libraries or tutorials on the subject ? I'm working on a Nokia 5 with Android 9. I currently use the following libraries : React-native-android-sms-listener [LINK] to retrieve the incoming messages. React-native-tts [LINK] to read the content aloud. What I already tried I'm searching the Internet for more tha

You will need a service to run exoplayer, i have had experience with this when i was trying out exoplayer. First of all android will destroy your activity along with the instance of your exoplayer. On back press or in background the app will still be able to play but eventually after couple of minutes it will stop as android tries to free resources. It is actually very good to do things via service so you can do much without doing heavy task on your activity main thread. You just need a foreground service which also requires a notification with a specific channel, you can also make the notification of media style so you can control your playback through notification or even when the screen i

I've been messing around with android services and facing a problem while running foreground Services in MIUI 10 (Testing Device: Redmi note 5 pro ) Basically Service runs as long as the user is interacting with activity but as soon as user kills activity, foreground service also gets killed. I read some other answers regarding the same issues, which state that in devices like Xaomi, Oppo, lenovo, LG, honor etc. You need to enable "AutoRun" permission for the app Which I tried with no success. I also tried the following with no success at all: Disabled MIUI optimization Disabled Power saving Removed Battery restrictions for the app Freed the memory (Total: 3GB, Available: 2GB) What worked fo

You need to implement PendingIntent [LINK] to get you notification and start ForgroundService [this video] or this [LINK] or this [LINK] to play your audio and close it when the user leaves your app or while they are using your app depending your particular needs.

Right now i have a BroadcastReceiver registered on my MainActivity. Basically waits for SMS from certain Number and displays it in my main activity. I would like the message to displayed in a foreground activity without OS killing it. [this video] Is this the correct way to implement it ?
