Why Raspberry Pi Stack Exchange recommends it

Raspberry Pi Stack Exchange users link it when explaining how to do SSH or internet sharing over Bluetooth PAN, especially with a Mac as the host.

What it is

A short screen-recorded guide to setting up a Bluetooth point-to-point network between a Raspberry Pi 3 and a Mac, so the two can talk without Wi-Fi or Ethernet. It also shows how to share the Mac's internet connection to the Pi over that link. Presented by Andrew Mulholland.

I don't know about iOS but you definitively can with do SSH over BLuetooth on a laptop. You just need to setup a PAN (Personal Area Network) which is emulating an Ethernet-Connection. There you get a virtual NIC (Network Interface Card) and then you can SSH into your Raspberry Pi. See Bluetooth Network [LINK] on eLinux. I'm not sure if this is the most up to date version. I can provide more links if you want to give it a try. I want to do SSH from my Macbook Air to my Raspberry Pi 3 via bluetooth. I'm using macOS Sierra version 10.12.1 and Raspberry Pi 3 Model B+ 2017 with the latest version of RASPBIAN STRETCH WITH DESKTOP (released on 2018-06-27 on this link: [LINK] ). First, I made sure to update and upgrade my Raspberry Pi system by running: sudo apt-get dist-upgrade sudo apt-get update . Then I installed bluez, bluetooth, and blueman: sudo apt-get install bluez sudo apt-get bluetooth --fix-missing sudo apt-get blueman --fix-missing . I rebooted my Raspberry Pi. Then I went to "System Preferences" and selected "Bluetooth" on my MacBook Air. I searched for "raspberrypi" and paired with the device. Then, on my

I'm new to Raspberry world, I received a pi3 model as a gift. I noted that there is a generalized problem when Wi-Fi and Bluetooth modules work at the same time, for example with a Bluetooth mouse/keyboard and a Wi-Fi internet connection. To bypass this problem I would share my internet connection from iPhone via Bluetooth, and so in this way I can shut down the Wi-Fi module. To do this I followed this guide, downloading Bluez: [this video] The connection works, but every few minutes I need to reconnect manually the internet sharing (iPhone and Rpi3 remain paired all time) because Rpi stop surfing. How could I solve? Thanks.
