RecyclerView OnClickListener (Best practice way)
Why Stack Overflow recommends it
Stack Overflow users link it when they need a pattern for handling item clicks in a RecyclerView adapter and passing the clicked position to an activity or fragment.

What it is
A short Android tutorial by Mitch Tabian of CodingWithMitch, taken from his SQLite for Beginners 2019 course. It shows how to attach an OnClickListener to a RecyclerView through an interface so the clicked list item can be identified.

This code shows an Dialog on each item clicked @NonNull @Override public ItemViewHolder onCreateViewHolder(@NonNull ViewGroup parent, int viewType) { LayoutInflater inflater = LayoutInflater.from(parent.getContext()); View view = inflater.inflate(R.layout.recycler_item, null); final ItemViewHolder viewHolder = new ItemViewHolder(view); dialoge = new Dialog(parent.getContext()); dialoge.setContentView(R.layout.dialog); dialoge.getWindow().setBackgroundDrawable(new ColorDrawable(Color.TRANSPARENT)); viewHolder.container.setOnClickListener(new View.OnClickListener() { @Override public void onClick(View view) { setDialog(dialoge, viewHolder); dialoge.show(); } }); return viewHolder; } and in the

I would suggest using an interface to pass the arraylist position in from the adapter to the activity and show an alert if they want to download it or not just to avoid any wanted transitions [this video] or atleast set the onclick listener to a maybe a download button rather than the entire cardview
Cites Niklas Dada · 2019-10 · Stack Overflow · on “Handle Touch Events for RecyclerView with frequently changing data”
Scenario: RecyclerView with a RecyclerView.Adapter . The notifyDataSetChanged() -method is called every 10ms because time sensitive information is shown, so the ViewHolders (class is extending RecyclerView.ViewHolder ) are updated frequently. The underlying data comes from a native C-library, so the Adapter-methods are overridden to query the data from the native library. derived from this best practice video [this video] an interface was implemented in the Adapter-class to pass the onTouch-Events from the Adapter to the Activity. Therefore the ViewHolder-class implements View.OnTouchListener and passes all touch events and the listItem-position (queried by getAdapterPosition() ) via the interfac

I can't figure out why RecyclerView is such recommended, i am getting so many memory leaks. Most of it are Library Leaks which are out of my control (please correct me if i am wrong) but now i got a memory leak from the the ClickListener. I looked at google and i can't figure out the best practice for click Listeners since their are so many approaches. oh why did android didn't add a simple solution?? The last Click Listener approach i tired was from the next Youtube Link RecyclerView OnClickListener (Best practice way) - is it really??? [this video] The difference from my implementation and the video was that i made the ViewHolder static but that was only since the android documentation in the n

So I have created a method ("OnNoteClick") to help get the Adapter Postition of a Recycler View and send its details to a different activity. I used this video to make the method RecyclerView-OnClick video [this video] However, for some reason it won't open the activity on the click of the reyclerview position. Below I have listed the activity code, and the RecylerView Adapter code. I want to delete a clicked item of a RecyclerView where the items consist of data from SQLite. I've successfully detected a clicked item for the RecyclerView (followed a tutorial from [this video] ) but cannot get the item's data to be deleted by a delete method I already created. Here is the delete method: public boolean deleteOne(OneTimeActivityModel oneTimeActivityModel){ SQLiteDatabase db = this.getWritableDatabase(); String queryString = "DELETE FROM " + ONE_TIME_ACTIVITY_TABLE + " WHERE " + COLUMN_ACTIVITY_NAME + " = " + oneTimeModel.getId(); Cursor cursor = db.rawQuery(queryString, null); if(cursor.moveToFirst()){ return true; } else{ return false; } } The method works in ListView because
