I also had the similar issue then I figured out that I have a space in my username between two words. Git directs to the path but stops right before the space in username ('C:\Users\SALAH') and throws the following error - hint: Waiting for your editor to close the file... 'C:\Users\SALAH' is not recognized as an internal or external command, operable program or batch file. Aborting commit due to empty commit message. Solution = Change your username to one word or without spaces. You can follow this particular video to change your username without reinstalling windows. [this video]

About this particular error: " UnicodeDecodeError: 'ascii' codec can't decode byte 0xe9 in position 8: ordinal not in range(128) ", when trying to upgrade pip or install any python packet, was related to the user folder name. My user folder name was "C:/Users/Sérgio Neves", and the "é" in "Sérgio" was the problem, so I changed the user folder name to "C:/Users/SergioNeves", without any accent and space. I followed this video to change the folder name: [this video]

I solved the same problem with this video How to Rename the User’s Folder [this video] by changing Windows username to non Cyrillic . Same video in Russian language Как переименовать папку пользователя [LINK] In my opinion, it is better to create a new user with Latin letters and programming there, because after renaming there may be problems with the programs. If problems appears, then search and rename the paths through regedit (ctrl + f and type "C:\users\HERE YOUR USERNAME") as shown in the video. Do at your own risk!

Well, it's solved. The issue comes because of Windows 10 Spanish version sets as default username Tú. Creating a folder at C:\Users\Tú The accent breaks the AVD giving the error at the picture. We should change our username, rename the folder and swap all the windows registry entries referencing to the folder. If you have this issue, maybe this video would help: [this video]

You can actually change the folder name. It's a bit tedious but it's worth it. Make sure you know of the edition of your Windows 10 you're using first - Professional, Enterprise or Home - before carrying out these steps, cos of step 5: Right click on Windows Start Menu option and click Command Prompt (Admin) (If you can't find Command Prompt (Admin) when you right-click on the Start Menu or search for it, you can simply go to C:/Users/Default/AppData/Local/Microsoft/Windows/WinX/Group3 on your pc. There, you'll find two shortcuts both named "Command Prompt"; one is for Command Prompt, and the other is for Command Prompt (Admin).Try out both shortcuts to know which is which, and then click on
