Why Stack Overflow recommends it

Stack Overflow users link it when answering Unity animation questions and a asker needs a quick introduction to setting up an Animator Controller with states, transitions and parameters.

What it is

An 8-minute official Unity tutorial that explains Animator Controllers, the state machines that decide which animations play and how they blend. It shows how to create a controller and assign animations and states to it. Presented by Unity as part of its beginner animation learning module.

You should use an animator [LINK] . It can perform all the actions you need. It can manage when to play certain animations, what to do after this animation has finished playing, blend multiple animations together... For youtube tutorials, click here [this video] .

You can animate GUI objects like every other object in Unity. Just attach an Animator and a Controller, add a parameter, and make an animation in the Animation window in unity. On button press can be done in a script, if you want keyboard input. Or with a function call - to a script - if you mean a GUI button. Animation window can be found in Windows -> Animation Ill add an example if needed. An example of the controller: [LINK] Keypoints: The Trigger parameter, as the condition in the transistion into the animation state. This makes it possible to add this line into the code: anim.SetTrigger("Fire"); To play the animation. Animation window: [LINK] Last but not least, ill add a video guide:

May I suggest you check a quick tutorial on Animator, Animatons and how to control them? It's only 8 minutes: [this video] and if you've got a somewhat grasp on it you can always watch it on higher speed! How I usually do things is to set up a pattern in the animator, then add variables to the transitions between animation, then control those variables with `animator.setBool("Walk", true);` for instance, thus telling the animator to animate the Walking animation

What i recommend is to use the animator component and triggers instead of two animations, when you reach your trigger point you fire the animation trigger and the animation starts running. first create an empty state and set many transitions to each f your animations with a bool parameter, if any scripts sets or clears that parameter the animation will be fired or stopped, remember to reset the animation time to the beginning every time you stop any animation so it can start from the beginning again. see this tutorials to get a better idea, I hope it helps [this video] [LINK]

Firstly, that is not an error, it is a warning. The difference being that with warnings, the game is able to still run. Warnings are helpful tips or reminders that something is not exactly right, but there is built-in error handling to quietly deal with the issue. I would never leave warnings as they exist to let you know that you have most likely missed something in your code, created unintended functionality, or have created a bug. Your particular warning is stating that your Animation Tree does not contain an Animation Parameter called ExpAnimato . I am going to make an assumption and say you do not have an Animation Paramater [LINK] named ExpAnimator but simply want to play the animation

You will need to implement a basic animator controller. You can define all your states (Idle, Crouch, Jump, Sprint, Aim) and define the transitions between them. You may then add parameters like floats, triggers and booleans as conditions to transition between these states. [LINK] In the above example, if you want to move to a crouch state, you would use GetComponent<Animator>().SetBool("Crouch", true); Or for another example, if you want to move from Run to Walk. The transition (The blue lines indicating the movement from one state to another) will have a condition to move from walk to run and back based on the float parameter "Speed". if Speed>x, move from walk to run. else move from run t
