What it is
A Google I/O 2014 session by Jatin Lodhia and Manfred Zabarauskas on building Android apps with Google Cloud services instead of hand-written sync code. It covers cloud data storage, offline behavior and multi-device sync, and shows Android Studio tooling for generating App Engine backends.

The new solution is to go to File > New Module > More Modules > AppEngine Java Endpoints Module Here's a Google I/O video that describes more about setting up the steps to set it up: [this video] There's also this link on Google's documentation for Cloud Tools: [LINK]

I think this video here [this video] gives a good idea about what GoogleApiClient can offer. As a quick summary, if the service is easier or only available through google (maps, sign in with google account, cross app syncing, etc.) then you should use the Object. Remember, you can always use both GoogleApiClient AND your own HttpUrlConnection requests.

This video [this video] makes a compelling case for Google Cloud Save but I'm a bit confused as to how I get it. I went to the Cloud Save page [LINK] to sign up but the form just said that the EAP was over and they'd let me know when it was available. This would've been simple enough except that if you go to the "Resolving Could Save Conflicts" page on the Android developer site, it links to a page [LINK] which advises Game developers to switch from Cloud Save to the Saved Games service. Is Cloud Save now a part of Games Services? My application isn't a game but it will involve the storage of simple data objects per user so this feature would be nice to have.
