An Online database will work. You can store the database locally on the phone and have it refresh every "X" amount of time. You will have to use some PHP coding and query the data from the database, sending it back to the phone. You can find a free webhost that lets you store databases here [LINK] . Hope this helps. Also look into importing sqlite database libraries and mysql handlers to implement this. Tweak this example on Youtube to get webhost working and a simple login via php here [this video]

I am trying to build a user database for an android application and I am following the tutorials made by Tonikami ( [this video] ). I believe that I have replicated his code but I still cannot pass data from the application to the database. Here is my Register Activity: package com.example.jerem.myapplication; import android.content.Intent; import android.support.v7.app.AlertDialog; import android.support.v7.app.AppCompatActivity; import android.os.Bundle; import android.view.View; import android.widget.Button; import android.widget.EditText; import com.android.volley.RequestQueue; import com.android.volley.Response; import com.android.volley.toolbox.Volley; import org.json.JSONException; import

I've create an application LOGIN/REGISTER with this tutorial [this video] . My problem is, if I put nothing on the register view of my app (name, username, age, password), it create an user on my table with nothing inside (just a number on "user_id" column) and I can sign in with nothing in "username" and "password" on the login view of my app. And all my LOGIN/REGISTER android app becomes useless... If you don't understand what I say, you can try my app [LINK] . For information, I've change some element to not give you all access to my app : In "LoginRequest.class", I have change my website by xxx at this line : private static final String LOGIN_REQUEST_URL =" [LINK] "; In "RegisterRequest.class

I suggest you to use Volley Library to achieve a Login - Register Activity. It is the latest trend in android develoment and much more easier than past methods. I will give you an example for the register activity: My register.xml: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?> <LinearLayout xmlns:android=" [LINK] " android:orientation="vertical" android:layout_width="match_parent" android:layout_height="match_parent" android:padding="@dimen/activity_horizontal_margin" android:background="@drawable/icon13"> <EditText android:layout_width="match_parent" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:inputType="textPersonName" android:ems="10" android:maxLength="16" android:id="@+id/etName" android:layo

Cites Alien Java · 2017-05 · Stack Overflow · on “org.json.JSONException: End of input at character XYZ”

I know that this issue is well known, but I can't solve it so far. In the end, I have a project and the data is stored perfectly in the DB (localhost). I'm using [LINK] The problem isn't in the PHP files or something with the connection of my app. Source [this video] . The issue happens with JSONObject jsonResponse = new JSONObject(response); In this SO post org.json.JSONException: End of input at character [LINK] somebody wrote that the solution is: Change JSONObject jsonObject = new JSONObject(result); to result=getJSONUrl(url); //<< get json string from server JSONObject jsonObject = new JSONObject(result); but in my app the method getJSONUrl doesn't exist, so that option doesn't work for me.

I've made a Login/Register app folowing this tutorial: [this video] Everything was ok, but then I deleted the "age" parameter and inserted a "lastname" and a "email" parameter. So, everytime I try to register an user, the "email" field goes with value "0" (even if I dont use @ or .) That's my Register.php file: <?php require("Password.php"); $connect = mysqli_connect("x", "x", "x", "x"); $name = $_POST["name"]; $lastname = $_POST["lastname"]; $email = $_POST["email"]; $password = $_POST["password"]; function registerUser() { global $connect, $name, $lastname, $email, $password; $passwordHash = password_hash($password, PASSWORD_DEFAULT); $statement = mysqli_prepare($connect, "INSERT INTO user (nam
