App Engine Load Testing and Performance Tips
Why Stack Overflow recommends it
Stack Overflow users link it when asking or answering App Engine questions about load test methodology, front-end instance class choice, and how requests are processed in parallel.

What it is
A Google Developers session from 2012 on load testing Google App Engine applications and tuning their performance. It covers best practices for ramping up test traffic, instance classes and concurrency, and ends with live audience Q&A.

The easy case is if you simply need more memory. Also, by moving to a higher instance class you "rent" more cpu cycles, so your requests might run until they are finished before you "idle" again. It really depends on the application if it makes sense to switch. There is a section in this Google Developers Video where this is discussed in more detail: [this video]

Thank you Dan. I found this video, very useful to clarify tis situation. [this video] As a final thought, if my app is very low latency, it will be hard to take advantage of the multithreading due to few I/O operations leaving idle cpu time.

I would like to test the load of my App Engine App. From the load test google recommendation [this video] . Query per second should increase gradually. So I would like to add 1 connection every second to my load test. How can I do that? I search for AB (Apache Benchmark) and JMeter without success. Maybe my question is very basic, but as I'm not use to load testing I don't google it properly. Thanks.
