My favorite from that collection on map generation is by Herbert Wolverson: [this video] He goes over 5 or 6 different techniques that are easy to implement.

Congratulations on releasing your book. I watched one of your talks about procedural generation[0] and really enjoyed it, thanks! Mentioning this here since the tutorial linked above has a lot of procedural generation content [0] [this video]

This is what I used to learn Rust, in tandem with The Book. I would read a chapter of The Book, then do a chapter of Herbert's Roguelike Tutorial. Very well written and fun material, that guides you deep into a tricky space with very little previous knowledge required. The maintainer is also very responsive to questions and pull requests. And has done an interesting talk[0] on procedural map generation at the annual 'Roguelike Celebration' conference[1] which is happening in October. (and for which the Call For Papers is still open) [0] [this video] [1] [LINK]

I recently saw a really fun and informative talk on procedural generation from their YouTube channel by a well known developer in the community [this video] . There's tons of interesting talks there if (traditional) roguelikes or their development really pique your interest.
