What it is

A 17-minute tutorial from Phil's Lab on PCB via basics: sizing parameters, recommended values, current handling, placement, voiding, transfer vias, and stitching vias for tying pours together and shielding. It includes a paid promotion for Altium Designer and uses examples in PCB software.

@dominic what I means is to add GND plane to the entire front and bottom layers and use the vias to stitching all the GND on various layers together. I would suggest that you watch this yourube tutorial [this video] on how and why (starting from 13:07min).

I watched a video on via basics by PhilsLab (Video: [this video] ), in which he discusses transfer vias. He presents the following picture to explain why you should place them: [LINK] He then provides an example in a PCB software: [LINK] Questions I want to place transfer vias on signal traces when they switch layers (as mentioned in his video.) I'm uncertain if I understand the concept correctly. Let's say I have a 6-layer PCB. On the first layer, I place signal traces, and on layer 6, I also place signal traces. Now, if I need to transition from layer 1 to layer 6, I would position the GND via as close as possible to the switching via. Do I also need to have a GND layer on the first layer? In P

From which frequency we need to consider a transfer via [this video] , when there is a transition of a signal on different layer in a PCB? higher than 1GHz? I need to know the threshold for considering these types of vias? [LINK] Reference of the picture: [this video]
