What it is
A 2012 tutorial by Adam Khoury showing how to load more content into a page when the user scrolls to the bottom, using plain JavaScript. It uses the window onscroll event along with offsetHeight, pageYOffset and innerHeight, and explains how this ties into Ajax requests like Facebook's infinite timeline.

Here's how it's done on the client side: [this video] In addition to that, you will need some server-side logic that will track what has been sent already, when a request for more contents comes in. One way you could achieve that is to always read the items in the same order, and have the browser send the "latest" item that it has with each subsequent request.

I have seen a video tutorial on YouTube about Dynamic Content [this video] that when a user reaches the bottom of a page, it automatically loads new div (Something like the facebook homepage). Instead of the intended result, it just keeps on loading. I don't know how to stop that. Here's the full code: <!DOCTYPE html> <html> <head> <script> function yHandler(){ // Watch video for line by line explanation of the code // [this video] var wrap = document.getElementById('wrap'); var contentHeight = wrap.offsetHeight; var yOffset = window.pageYOffset; var y = yOffset + window.innerHeight; if(y >= contentHeight){ // Ajax call to get more dynamic data goes here wrap.innerHTML += '<div class="newData"></div>'

EDIT: I have half answered my own question, but still need assistance. Please see Dynamically load HTML from other files onto page as you scroll [LINK] below. Original post: I am working on revamping a site for members that contains an image gallery of photos that can be used for marketing purposes. Previously each category was split into sub-categories, resulting in a couple hundred pages and some pages with one image only. I've ditched the sub-categories and contained all the images on each category page. When you click on a thumbnail it the full size image opens in a lightbox with additional info This is fine for most categories, but some categories are large and contain a couple hundred
