What do you mean by "having a local database on the phone was problematic and BIG?" Database is the way to go. The best tutorial I found on the net is on youtube from thenewboston: [this video] (it goes from 112 to 125 afair)

Here's a good tutorial on SQLite databases and displaying contents in a ListView : [LINK] It doesn't go over editing that much, but it's easy to see where he puts the values into the database. thenewboston on YouTube is a good resource for Android tutorials and he goes over SQLite databases: [this video] It's pretty comprehensive and slow if you already kinda know what you're doing so here is where he goes over inserting data/editing the database if you just wanna jump to that: [LINK]

Your sqlite class extends Activity. Also you do not have onCreate method in sqlite Then you have this sqlite as = new sqlite(); You need to start an activity using startActivity(new Intent(myintent)) . Suggest you study activities. [LINK] Also you have this sqlite as = new sqlite(); //sqlite class extends activity SQLiteDatabase sqLiteDB = null; // null value as.sqlitetry(sqLiteDB); as.sqlinit(); Your sqlite need not extend Activity if its just a helper class. Also check this tutorial [LINK] Check out the tutorial @ Youtube By travis [this video] (series 112 to 119 i guess)
