According to the Lord of the Rings project [LINK] , Saruman imprisoned Gandalf at the top of the tower, Orthanc on July 10th, 3018 Third Age. The chief of the great eagles, Gwaihir, rescued Gandalf on September 18th. When Gandalf arrives, we see no Uruk-Hai at Isengard, but by his rescue, there are plenty of Uruk-Hai. That means Saruman transformed Isengard from a garden into an industrial site and made an army in just 10 weeks. How much time did it take Saruman make an Uruk-Hai army? Were the Uruk-Hai already there before Saruman transformed Isengard?

This question is the opposite of another one. The other question asks " What would happen to Saruman if he got the One Ring? [LINK] " and this one asks what would happen to Saruman if Sauron got the One Ring. Saruman: The friendship of Saruman is not lightly thrown aside. (tortures Gandalf) Gandalf: (screams in pain) Aaahhh! Saruman: One ill turn deserves another. It is over! Embrace the power of the ring or embrace your own destruction! (tortures Gandalf again) Gandalf: (screams in pain) Uh! There is only one Lord of the Ring. There is only one who can bend it to his will, and he does not share power ! Gwaihir the Eagle screams in distance. Gandalf jumps from the tower of Orthanc. Gwaihir t

Saruman didn't break the staff, because he managed to take it whole from Gandalf and kept it (check out the end of the fight [LINK] where Saruman has both staffs). When Gandalf flees Orthanc he does so without his staff (revisit the scene here [this video] ) and later on gets another staff. This differs in the films from the books. The accounts of how he gets another staff in the movie universe differ a bit and maybe this is worth a separate question, but he clearly loses his staff in the fight with Saruman. Somewhat authoritative sources for this answer are this IMDB FAQ [LINK] (check out How did Gandalf get his staff back from Saruman? He simply leaps off of Orthanc without it ) and the Lotr wi

Apparently, Gandalf says: "Gwaihar − go!" The aforementioned moth does not appear in the books, so an answer from book-canon is non-existent. I checked multiple scripts of Peter Jackson's The Fellowship of the Ring online, and I've gotten varied results. The iMSDB script [LINK] (my first Google search result): EXT. ISENGARD -- NIGHT Low angle...looking up at ORTHANC...the tower of Isengard, gleaming in the moonlight. The camera rises to reveal the once beautiful gardens are not a pitted wasteland...with smoke and fire billowing out of numerous tunnels and vent holes that litter the forecourt of ORTHANC. Strange guttural chants echo up from deep underground. The camera is rising...a small mot
