Why Monero Stack Exchange recommends it

Monero Stack Exchange answerers point people to it as a primary source for Monero's dynamic block size cap and for Spagni's discussion of CONOP (cost of node-option) and decentralization.

What it is

A recording of Monero core developer Riccardo Spagni (fluffypony) speaking at the 2016 On-chain scaling event about the Bitcoin blocksize limit and how Monero's flexible, demand-based blocksize cap works. It runs just under an hour and is a conference talk captured by a community volunteer.

Paul Sztorc in his post Measuring Decentralization [LINK] defined CONOP as For this section, the cost of the option to create a full node will be referred to as the “cost of node-option” or “CONOP”. The implication is that the more full nodes that are being run in a decentralized manner the better. Monero controls the growth of its blockchain (and thereby the cost to run a node) with an adaptive blocksize that scales based on demand. Riccardo Spagni elaborated on this during his Dynamic Block Size Cap presentation [this video] We know that it is possible to prune Monero (because it is being done already in a Monero fork called Aeon) and that pruning may further reduce the cost of running a node.

There have been some conversations about the need for producing professional looking Monero videos. Some videos have been produced from volunteers within the Monero community and from organizers or participants of events where a Monero developer has spoken but more are needed.
