Why Stack Overflow recommends it

Stack Overflow users link it when answering Firebase and Google Sign-In errors caused by a missing or wrong SHA1 fingerprint, since it shows the Gradle signingReport route that works when the keytool command does not.

What it is

The error was the way I created the fingerprint. The command keytool -exportcert -list -v \ -alias androiddebugkey -keystore ~/.android/debug.keystore did not work to me. The way to create the debug fingerprint was: " [Basically, in Android Studio, open the Gradle menu on the far right, open android-start from the drop down (refresh if nothing is showing), open Tasks, open android, double click signingReport. shown in this link: [LINK] " or this video tutorial [ [this video] The Firebase team helped me with this error.

Do you still have the problem? As this [this video] go to the " Gradle projects " tab (to the right) -> Tasks -> android -> double click on signingReport and you will get it for all your variants: Take the SHA1 which have the Variant and Config type debug I hope it will be useful for you!

I got this same error. so,re-downloaded and it didn't solved my problem. and it resolved doing these steps. Android Studio , open the Gradle menu on the far right, open android-start from the drop down (refresh if nothing is showing), open Tasks , open android , double click signingReport . see this. [this video] Get your SHA1 key from there, and go create a new Firebase project and in the console, use that SHA1 key after clicked "Add firebase to Android".. follow the tutorial from there. Restart your device , It worked for me.
