What it is

A roughly 30-minute tutorial by Brad Traversy of Traversy Media that builds a small Node.js and Express app with a contact form and wires it up to send email using the Nodemailer module. It includes a link to the full code repository and the starting HTML/CSS form.

Thanks for the solid advice. I was able to set up emails to be sent from the website. Follow this link for a good tutorial -- [this video] --

Honestly, if you want options on who you send the email to and what it contains, there's no magic HTML button that's going to just send an email for you. If you plan on using JavaScript you should probably learn how to use NodeJS and the Nodemailer module. This will allow you to set up a server with which to create and send emails from on your site, not just open a pre-existing client. Here's what you might want to see to get started. I just created a static portfolio bootstrap website as a practice and there is a contact me section at the bottom of the site where you can type in your name, phone number, email and some text. This website was created originally as a static one but after me watched a couple of youtube videos on how to sending email by using node.js and I tested it out in a separate project and the code worked. So I decided to add this functionality to this static website and I did, but the code I learned is no longer working. I am very new to node.js and now I think the whole idea could be wrong in the first place as I might need to have different folder structure / or environment set up at least to get thi

Here is a link to the repo: [LINK] The repo is basically a replica of Brad Travery's tutorial: [this video] The node server works on localhost, but when I submit I get a POST error and I get no information after that. I started searching for Nodemailer POST error on the web then I came to the conclusion it was probably express. I'm using Gmail. It was initially suggested to use Zoho mail at first. Im using Apps less secure option, the code on the repo has no password filled in. I thought I would deal with the POST error first. I set up Heroku and then tried to create the app via the CLI, it looked good then I got an err for: no start script, I searched that and found to include a line after the t

I first attempted creating this as a firebase cloud function as well, but I shifted towards building nodemailer on the server. Working in firebase cloud functions I was using the loophole of downgrading to node: 8 in package.json (which is deprecated) and I was being forced into making a Google firebase paid plan. Both items were driving me into a corner that I didn't want to be in. This is the result of nodemailer in node.js thanks to [this video] const express = require('express') require('dotenv').config() const bodyParser = require('body-parser') const exphbs = require('express-handlebars') const path = require('path') const nodemailer = require('nodemailer') const app = express() const email
