What it is
A React Conf 2017 talk by Airbnb engineer Leland Richardson on adding React Native to existing native iOS and Android apps (the "brown field" case) rather than starting from scratch. It covers how React Native bridges JavaScript to native views and the navigation and integration problems Airbnb ran into.

Well, first issue is I've never used RN or a "navigation controller". Second, a normal React app only rarely gets real references to component instances - you just render descriptions of the UI and let React handle updating. You might want to browse through the source for other libs out there, like [LINK] . Also, see [this video] and [LINK] for info on other RN navigation libs.

It's not hybrid in the sense of something like Ionic, where you're essentially running web-style JS in a webview. In React Native, the Javascript is communicating with Java or Objective C and creating native elements. Native can mean different things depending on where you are — this section of this talk helped me understand it better (I recommend the rest of the talk, too): [this video]

I anticipate that I may need to jump from an Android Activity and back to the RN framework. What are the best options available? Wix/React Native Navigation [LINK] - Does this provide that option? (ie. the tabs, etc will allow to switch between activities?) AirBnB/Native-Navigation [LINK] - I understand this was supposed to help with that (as per Video: React Native in the Brownfield [this video] )... but it's discontinued! What is the best/correct way to architect a mixed/hybrid Android application currently? Thanks for all the help! (Also I have searched, however because there are so many overlapping search terms, it often comes up with just simple RN navigation solutions)
