What it is

A screencast from Bright Web Design Studio showing how to build a block that counts content per taxonomy term in Drupal 7, using Views aggregation with only Views and CTools enabled. It walks through the Views UI step by step and links to a written version on the studio's site.

[this video] This video explains the process. I found my old fields didn't work anymore once i added aggregation so, you might want to remember and fields and styling you have made because you might have to rebuild the fields once aggregation is turned on. add a relationship (under advanced tab) 'Taxonomy term: Content with term'. turn on aggregation (advanced tab at the bottom). create a field 'Taxonomy Term: Name'. add any other fields associated with the taxonomy such as image or any others you created. Style everything and done!

I think you need to enable the aggregation in the view. the video here [this video] explains the same issue but in Drupal 7, but it's okay, it is the same for Drupal 8
