Whomever told you this is wrong. Only use nofollow on links that you don't trust. These links are usually provided by third parties (i.e. blog comments) and may be spammy. Otherwise, do not use nofollow . After all, Matt Cutts said linking to external sites can be a positive ranking factor [LINK] . Using nofollow on internal links is a bad idea. PageRank is still passed to those pages but is then discarded since the links are nofollow [LINK] . This only hurts you and never helps you. This includes using nofollow on links to sign up forms, contact pages, etc. Those pages still have value to you as they can "pass" PR around your site as well as use internal links to your benefit. Using nofollow will not improve your SERP's at all, neither will share more pagerank to other links inside a page. So, you better don't do it, it will hurt your site. It's not recommended to use nofollow on internal links because it drops (Matt Cutts said " evaporates [this video] ") pagerank. Links nofollow ed are taken into account when calculating pagerank distribution between all links inside a page, then, their pagerank part is dropped. Why blocking your images? It's better if all of your content (pages, images, video, etc.) are indexed, every single item might be another door for letting visitors get into your site.

I have a section on a website where I show a list of posts from the past. The list is randomly generated and it's changing every time a page is loaded. I was wondering, would it be better to add a rel="nofollow" to these links or not? I'm worried that Google might think it's a strategy to have more keywords on the site and that content displayed for search engines is different from the content I'm serving to "regular" users.. but then Matt Cutts says he wouldn't add rel="nofollow" [this video] to internal links. What do you guys think?
