They probably shouldn't... Kenobi uses that exact tactic against General Grievous, he slides his lightsaber down Grievous' and chops his hand off. I grabbed this YouTube video from the Reddit linked in the comments above. Thanks Demarini for the comment: It happens at roughly 2:30 in the video for those who are wondering.

No There is one occasion that I can remember shown in the films where a lightsaber slides along another lightsaber and takes off the wielder's hand; in the fight between Obi-Wan and General Grievous on Utapau when Obi-Wan slices off Grievous' second hand. It can be seen in this youtube clip at the 2:34 mark So they do not lock, though as you can see from Obi-Wan, effort is required to move one blade along the other, so there is some friction involved that has to be overcome. The blades do not glide effortlessly so do not act as though they are "covered in soap".

I was watching Obi-Wan fight Grievous in this clip and happened to pause right after he cuts off Grievous's second hand as the saber falls away (the 2:36 mark): Here's a couple screen grabs of what I noticed: [LINK] [LINK] What the heck!? That looks identical to Kenobi's saber! [LINK] Given that Grievous never made his own and had a love for collecting the sabers of Jedi he'd killed, my question is who did the sabers used in this battle originally belong to (especially the Obi-Wan look alike I spotted)?
