What it is
A GopherCon 2016 conference talk by Kelsey Hightower on building a custom Kubernetes scheduler in Go. It walks through how the scheduler watches for unscheduled pods and binds them to nodes, using a small toy scheduler as the example.

Generally, you define your scheduler name while writing the scheduler itself. Then you create a docker container for scheduler and ran that scheduler as deployment in kubernetes. Now that scheduler will schedule your pods (based on how you write your scheduling). You should watch the following talk of Kelsey Hightower on how to write custom scheduler and use it [this video] Here is the toy scheduler source code, you can refer [LINK] Hope this gives you brief idea. EDIT: The kelsey hightower's scheduler (link mentioned above) has to be deployed in following way: apiVersion: extensions/v1beta1 kind: Deployment metadata: labels: app: scheduler name: scheduler spec: replicas: 1 template: metadata: la

This is one very fine blog about how kubernetes scheduler work: [LINK] You should also have a look at the performance tuning of scheduler [LINK] , which explains in detail idea about how can you tune your scheduler. At last, for understanding how can you write your own scheduler, watch Kelsey Hightower's talk here [this video] Hope this gives you fair idea about scheduler.

When I trying to follow the Kubernetes Configure Multiple Schedulers guide [LINK] , I cannot successfully get the my-scheduler pod running. I succeed to build the image and push it to a registry, and the image shows in my docker and Google Could Platform. But when I apply the deployment file to set the pods, the status is CrashLoopBackOff . my-scheduler-64576b7897-8b549 0/1 CrashLoopBackOff 14 84m Here is the output for kuberctl describe pod my-scheduler-64576b7897-8b549 -n kube-system : Name: my-scheduler-64576b7897-8b549 Namespace: kube-system Priority: 0 PriorityClassName: <none> Node: minikube/10.0.2.15 Start Time: Tue, 07 May 2019 15:06:59 -0500 Labels: component=scheduler pod-template-

Eks does not provide the ability to override the default scheduler configuration, which means that actually configuring the default-scheduler profile with the MostAllocated scoring strategy is not an option. However, you may run your own scheduler alongside the default scheduler, and this one may be configured how you like [LINK] . Once you create a custom scheduler, you can override that scheduler's configuration with the MostAllocated scoring strategy and then instruct your workloads to use that scheduler. In order to run multiple schedulers, you have to set up several Kubernetes Objects. These objects are documented in the guide linked above: ServiceAccount ClusterRoleBinding x2 RoleBindi
