We generally don't provide the file_name in destination directory. @ShwetaKamble your command seems partially correct. Check if your HDFS is working or not. If it is working properly. then try `hadoop fs -put C:\Users\Desktop\Terrorism.csv /user/Mydata/`. You can check below Youtube link for hadoop installation on windows for any possible error. I am following this procedure [LINK] ( [this video] ). While executing the command c :/hadoop-2.3.0/bin/hadoop namenode -format , I got the error message given below **DEPRECATED:Use of this script to execute hdfs command is deprecated. Instead use the hdfs command for it. Exception in thread "main" java.lang.NoClassDefFountError** I am using jdk-6-windows-amd64.exe . How to solve this issue?

I install hadoop 2.3 for windows folling this instruction: [this video] And I can get it work very well on my windows 8 on my Macbook. However when I repeat the same steps on my windows server, and when I run command line: hadoop it shows this error: HADOOP_HOME is not set correctly I check again very carefully and find that HADOOP_HOME is set very precisely (as in instruction and in my previous setup on laptop). So what could be the problem and how to fix it ? Is there any different between setting up for laptop and server ? I have my hadoop installed following this: [this video] and run well on two machines (laptop and server). However when I repeat the steps for the third machine, it run well until I try this command: hadoop fs -mkdir /input the error message is: What can I check and fix here? I have one suspect is that this machine have something block the connection or port (normally I also use xampp for php but now it is not running).
