What it is
A short 2010 screencast showing how to install and run Xdmx on Linux so an old laptop can act as an extra monitor for a main workstation. It walks through installing a working xdmx package, tunnelling over SSH with a blowfish cipher, and starting the X server. The same approach can be used to build large tiled displays.

A friend in IRC linked me to a video that shows how to use a program called Xdmx to do basically just what I want. The video can be found here: [this video]

I followed this video to use another laptop as a second monitor/screen. [this video] the basic idea is: if I have two laptops with linux: my main laptop and the second laptop. I installed Xdmx on both laptops. Then I ssh into my main laptop from the second laptop, and then run command under the ssh session: startx -- /usr/bin/Xdmx :1 +xinerama -display :0.0 -display localhost:10.0 -norender -noglxproxy when I run the command startx -- /usr/bin/Xdmx :1 +xinerama -display :0.0 -display localhost:10.0 -norender -noglxproxy I got a fatal error, how to deal with it?
