Why Stack Overflow recommends it

Stack Overflow users link it as the standard first tutorial for MvvmCross, both when they follow it and hit setup or build errors and when answerers point to it for default binding behaviour.

Recommended by 3 people across 3 different months, 2013 to 2018.

What it is

A 39-minute screen-recorded walkthrough by MvvmCross author Stuart Lodge that builds a first MvvmCross application, the first episode of his 'N+1 days of MvvmCross' series. It covers setting up a portable class library core and wiring it to platform UIs with data binding.

The default behaviour for TwoWay Text binding on both Android and iOS is to do per character binding. You can see this behaviour in, for example, the N=0 video at 18:43 - [this video] If you are not seeing this behaviour in your EditText then I guess it might be down in some way to your app or perhaps to a bug (e.g. perhaps in OneWayToSource binding somehow - this certainly isn't as commonly used as other binding modes). To workaround this, I can only think to suggest: Log it as an issue with a reproducible case (github repo) on GitHub/MvvmCross - someone there might be able to help - or you might be able to fix it yourself. Try TwoWay binding instead Try creating your own custom binding or your

Since you're using MVVMCross you should be using the MVVM pattern. It means using a ViewModel and binding your values instead of setting the click handler on code behind. The solution to your problem is fairly simple once you use these concepts. You must convert your click function into a IMvxCommand , create a property that controls whether or not you have a "service" and then use it to control the CanExecute of your command (more info here [LINK] ) The same can be done for your Image. Your property must return the drawable that needs to be shown: The regular one if you have a "Service" and the grey one otherwise. You can find out more about how DataBinding and ViewModels work here [LINK] o

Following the tutorial for mvvmcross here: [this video] I've set up my PCL xml files to include MonoTouch and Mono for Android as instructed here: [LINK] If I try to use nuget I get an error that an item with the same key has already been added: I can add other project types to the solution and NuGet works fine, it's something specific to PCL projects. Here is the console output: PM> Install-Package MvvmCross.HotTuna.StarterPack Attempting to resolve dependency 'MvvmCross.HotTuna.CrossCore (≥ 3.0.8.1)'. I am running Windows 8.1 with Visual Studio Professional 2013 including Update 1. I want to write apps which can be deployed to Windows Phone, Windows 8, Windows 7, and Android. Here is a great tutorial on what I want to do [this video] but right at the start when the Portable class library is created the presenter has the option on the 'Add Portable Class Library' window where you can select the target frameworks, the video has "Mono for Android' but I do not have the option. I assume that I need to install it through Extensions and Updates. It finds the 'Ninja Coder for MvvmCross' by Adrian Sudbury. It prompts me to download, I follow the link, download and run the msi, it successfully installs

i tried the MVVMCross Tutorial over at [this video] . Android works very fine. I'm currently at iOS and it does not work like in the video. It says: Error 8 The type or namespace name 'MvxMessage' could not be found (are you missing a using directive or an assembly reference?) so i can't to anything. Do you guys know what to do? Edit: I use Xamarin.iOS Unified.

I've created new project with VS2013 + Xamarin: MyProject Core (as Class Library Portable, only without Silverlight 5) MyProject WindowsPhone (as Silverlight Windows Phone 8.0) then I follow tutorial from Stuart Lodge MvvmCross tutorial [this video] and can't run Windows Phone 8 build with System.Windows.Markup.XamlParseException I also add debug exception for this. What's most important - it is working on Windows Phone 8.1 emulator, but not on Windows Phone 8.0 (for example 720p)

I am starting a cross-platform project in Xamarin, and I have some doubts that are me to prevent development. Initially the project is only for android and UWP but in the near future it will be also for iOS. Questions: 1. I want to centralize all resources (strings for labels like "Name", "Age") in order to be consumed in the 3 platforms and when you have to edit this string, the change is made on all projects. What better way to do this? I need to do DataBinding on UI in all plataforms [Xamarin.Android] I researched and heard of anything like "MVVMCross" but this forces me to extend my activities other own the MVVMCross and for example, and uencessito to take Android one ActionBar and for t
