If you create your project with Master - Detail pattern in xCode, you will see perform segue method and data transfer codes for transfer data between two view controller. I can't teach you from scratch you should ask google or watch videos from youtube. This video can help you to learn data transfer. [this video]

It doesn't sound like you need to do anything other than use multiple view controllers to swipe through, passing data from one to the next, and so forth. I don't think using multiple views (parent / child views) is actually what you're after. This is a very simple tutorial that will explain how to pass data through segues. [this video]

Hi, yes I was! I fixed it with prepareforsegue(the function for passing data)... I had code, but made a stupid mistake (so make sure everything is linked up together correctly). Here's a great tutorial -> [this video]

You can send data using the prepareForSegue method override func prepareForSegue(segue: UIStoryboardSegue!, sender: AnyObject!) { if (segue.identifier == "yourSegueIdentifier") { var svc = segue!.destinationViewController as secondViewController; svc.toPass = textField.text } } Here is a great video to get you started: video [this video]

You can use protocols/delegate Here is a very very straightforward explanation, no bs: [this video] Or in your situation you can also use NSNotificationCenter You can do something like this: The "sender" view controller would do let nc = NSNotificationCenter.defaultCenter() nc.postNotificationName("printValue", object: nil, userInfo: ["value" : "Pass Me this string"]) The receiver view controller then can listen to the notification. let nc = NSNotificationCenter.defaultCenter() nc.addObserver(self, selector: #selector(printValue), name: "printValue", object: nil) func printValue(notification:NSNotification) { let userInfo:Dictionary<String,String> = notification.userInfo as! Dictionary<String,Str

Here are two links to help you better understand pass data between ViewController s. This is a video [this video] This is a webpage [LINK] I suggest use protocol instead of prepare for segue .

in `SecondPageViewController`, implement `let secondVC = SecondViewController()` just below the line `class`, then inside your `sendData`, implement `secondVC.addItem()`. Here is a link to help you understand passing data between `ViewControllers`. [this video]

if you want send the data forward in the view controller stack, you can use perform segue and prepare for segue method [this video] but if you send the data backward, you can use protocol and delegate pattern : [LINK]

Why can't I pass data from one view controller class to another view controller class when they are in the same .swift file? I've done both of the tutorials linked bellow in an effort to understand passing data, and both have you make another .swift file for you second view controller. When I followed them exactly it works. When I do everything the same but just put the class SecondViewController in the same .swift file as the class FirstViewController it doesn't work. Why? I'm building an application with three view controllers and I'd rather just keep all the code in one file if I can. Is this why it's not working or is it just bad form?
