What it is

Your Qt application doesn't have to have the plain standard platform graphical look, but there are ways to design unique apps with Qt. For instance, you can style your application with style sheets: [LINK] , or even with a custom QStyle (which is not very easy): [LINK] Qt Quick is a new technology we're introducing in the upcoming Qt 4.7 (check out the beta if you're interested). It allows you to easily define custom UI components from simple primitives, with custom animations, state transitions and other effects. See for example [this video] .

What advantages would you expect as opposed to a HTML gui in a standard browser? Lots of programs out there come with their own HTTP server for semplicity of UI develpment. I also read of QtQuick [LINK] ( [this video] ) but really never tried myself I have the following things to point out Debugging/testing the GUI is simpler in a browser Smaller package Development time optimization Truly cross platform (at least, it's easier to go cross platform when you have a HTTP server as the application logic processor)

If you need fancy animations you could use Qt Quick ( documentation [LINK] , Qt Quick demos in YouTube [this video] ). And by the way, it is Qt, not QT.
