What it is
A short screencast showing how to set up an SFTP client such as FileZilla to upload files to a Google Compute Engine Linux or Ubuntu VM. It covers installing the gcloud SDK, generating an SSH key, adding the key to the client, and fixing the 'could not fetch instance' zone error. The presenter is the channel owner, Naresh Ganatra.

At a high level, these are the steps: Install and run the gcloud SDK ( $ gcloud init ) Generate SSH key ( $ gcloud compute ssh ) Setup the FTP client (install and add the key file) Connect to the VM using the SFTP client Assuming this question was asked here before this documentation [LINK] from Google was available. Also, I have recorded this, it might be helpful: [this video] And just an FYI .. if the files that you need to transfer are pretty small in size then maybe you don’t need a SFTP client. Transfer directly from the console as seen here [LINK]

Thanks for help... But unfortunately, this code is not in GIT. Furthermore, being new to Google hosting, I wasn't clear on my setup... My web instance is actually running within Compute Engine not Application Engine. Be that as it may, with some additional search, I was first able to find out how to browse my filesystem by accessing the VM Instances menu option under the Compute Engine section of the Google Cloud Platform interface. On the VM Instances page, it will show your instance and an option to the left side of the instance to connect with a drop down box that will allow you to open a browser window that shows the instance's file system. In addition to this, I found this link [this video]

Hi All on stackoverflow, I have been trying to figure out how to create a directory in my bitnami odoo 9 stack through filezilla on my google cloud compute engine but getting a permission denied message when trying to create a new directory in location: /opt/bitnami/apps/odoo/lib/odoo-9.0rc20160209-py2.7.egg/openerp/addons as i wish to see my new addon in my odoo 9 apps backend system. Here are the steps I followed to get filezilla access, which I now have but really struggling with creating a new directory in this location or even changing the addons directory file permissions is giving me a permission denied message. Anyway steps I followed were mostly from this youtube video: [this video] but
