How To Create A Video Chat App With WebRTC
Why Stack Overflow recommends it
Stack Overflow users link it as the standard walkthrough for a PeerJS and Socket.io video chat, both as a recommended starting point for rooms and signalling and as the tutorial their own questions are built on.

What it is
Kyle of Web Dev Simplified builds a Zoom-style video chat app from scratch in about 29 minutes. He uses WebRTC through the PeerJS library, Socket.io for signalling, and a simple room system in Node and Express.

First of all, you need to use a PeerServer that is not on your local network (=accessible to the internet). There is one provided by peer.js, which is used by default when no PeerServer URL is specified by the client. To establish a connection, a library like socket.io can be very useful. This video gives a good explanation: [this video]

I am trying to create a video conference app using the tutorial [this video] . I want to add one feature to change the quality of video( not the resolution of the video ) user can see like we have in YouTube videos auto, high picture quality etc. I am very new to WebRTC and Peer library so any help is appreciated. Thank you. script.js const socket = io('/') const videoGrid = document.getElementById('video-grid') const myPeer = new Peer(undefined, { host: '/', port: '3001' }) const myVideo = document.createElement('video') myVideo.muted = true const peers = {} navigator.mediaDevices.getUserMedia({ video: true, audio: true }).then(stream => { addVideoStream(myVideo, stream) myPeer.on('call', call =

Try this Tutorial [this video] I know it is a zoom app but it will give you a basic idea on how to create rooms with node.js

The below is the code of the server side const express = require('express'); const app = express(); const server = require('http').Server(app); const io = require('socket.io')(server); const { v4: uuidV4} = require('uuid'); app.set('view engine' , 'ejs'); app.use(express.static('public')); app.get('/' , (req , res)=>{ res.redirect(`/${uuidV4()}`); }); app.get('/:room' , (req , res)=>{ console.log(req.params); res.render('room' , {roomId: req.params.room}); }) io.on('connection' , socket =>{ socket.on('join-room' , (roomId , userId)=>{ socket.join(roomId); socket.to(roomId).broadcast.emit('user-connected' , userId) }) }) server.listen(3000) Now the code of client side javascript const socket

I am currently working on nodejs and socket app that is currently doing 1:1 video conference that is using webrtc. Videos are two separate element in the html and i would like to merge them together so that i can broadcast to rtmp url for public view (2:many). Is this possible For webrtc, i followed this tutorial [this video] , and for broadcasting i am using ffmpeg which current does 1 video stream. Please confirm if this is doable Update I was able to merge the video using [LINK] And now the final issue i am receiving merger.result which is merged stream and I tried to create a mediaRecorder object. Callback method for MediaRecorder ondataavailable is called only once but not every 250ms which

If you're getting this error, I'm assuming you are following this video tutorial How To Create A Video Chat App With WebRTC [this video] In this tutorial Kyle is using socket.io version 2.0.3 You are facing issues since you might be using socket version '4.0.1' . Apparently in this version, the broadcast property is no longer available/has been removed which is why you are getting the above TypeError. Also call the 'to()' method on the io object instead of the socket object. Solution: Replace this: socket.to(roomId).broadcast.emit('user-connected', userId) With this: io.to(roomId).emit('user-connected', userId); For further information, please refer this documentation: Socket.io rooms [LINK]

I have a simple question based on this link WebRTC [LINK] WebRTC (Web Real-time Communication) is an industry effort to enhance the web browsing model. It allows browsers to directly exchange realtime media with other browsers in a peer-to-peer fashion through secure access to input peripherals like webcams and microphones. Traditional web architecture is based on the client-server paradigm, where a client sends an HTTP request to a server and gets a response containing the information requested. In contrast, WebRTC allows the exchange of data among N peers. In this exchange, peers talk to each other without a server in the middle. and I thought webRTC is like that but then I saw this tutori
