What it is
A 29-minute hands-on tutorial by Murtaza's Workshop showing how to run real-time object detection in Python with OpenCV using a pre-trained SSD MobileNet model and the COCO class names. It walks through loading the model, setting a detection threshold, and drawing labelled boxes on webcam frames.

Recently I successfully wrote a python script utilizing SSD mobilenet V3 model (2020_01_14) that later was incorporated into the Raspberry Pi to detect objects in real time with voice feedback utilizing an external webcam (piCamera for the Raspberry Pi). However, I have been experimenting with numerous custom object detection models and none seem to integrate well with my code. For instance, I even used the pre-trained SSD mobilenet V2 model (2018_03_29) found [LINK] and no bounding boxes are being created for some reason. For some reason I don't understand, the code seems to run perfectly well with the V3 model but fails with the V2 model and other custom object models that I have tried (do

@sharkyenergy, there are a lot of other ways/libraries but note that OpenVINO comes with OpenCV. The samples including the one I suggested in my first reply are using OpenCV. This OpenCV tutorial might also help you to understand better: [this video]

I followed a tutorial to simulate an object detection program in python for a schoolproject. I did the exact same steps and installed the things needed. But whenever I run my code, I am getting an error: classFile = ‘coco.names’ ^ line 31, in <module> cv2.putText(img, classNames[classId - 1].upper(), (box[0] + 10, box[1] + 30), IndexError: list index out of range Could someone help me with finding out where it goes wrong? [this video] This is the link of the tutorial I followed. Here is the Python code of the program I wrote by using the tutorial. import cv2 thres = 0.45 # Threshold to detect object cap = cv2.VideoCapture(1) cap.set(3, 1280) cap.set(4, 720) cap.set(10, 70) classNames = [] classFi
