What it is
A Xamarin University lightning lecture by Ren\u00e9 Ruppert on using Azure Notification Hub to push notifications to Android, iOS and UWP devices from Xamarin.Forms. It covers configuring the hub with APNS, FCM and WNS, registering devices, and sending notifications through a custom ASP.NET Azure Mobile App Service, with source code on GitHub.

@Buschi I recommend not use plug ins for important functionality. Read the Xamarin documentation how to implement push notifications for iOS and Android with platform specific code. It will be easier to debug, otherwise you rely on the creator of the plug-in to fix any problems or to update in case iOS and or Android change anything regarding how the push notifications work. Here is a good tutorial on push notifications, but I do not think it accounts for creating notification channels for Android starting with Oreo but you can look that up: [this video]

I have a problem with Azure Notification Hub. When my app is started in first time, the notifications working correctly, but when did a rebuild the app by Visual Studio, the notifications stop working and the Android Services with IntentFilters do not are called. For the notifications works again, I need to uninstall the App in Android and run by Visual Studio again. Have someone some idea about that problem? My worry is: if I send the app to GooglePlay, the notifications would continue working after a update? If someone know how to call the service to get the new InstallationId, always that the app to be started I will know how I can resolve the problem. Can someone help me? I did follow th

I'm new to app developing and I'm starting with Xamarin Forms and Azure Portal for the Notification Hub. I followed the Xamarin University tutorial ( [this video] ) to create a test app in Xamarin Forms with the backend hosted in Azure Portal. Now I want to connect my backend to SQL server locally instead of SQL Azure DB. So far I haven't been able to find anything in Google and I'm not sure how to approach this so any help will be appreciated.

I have done the following things: Created a project in FCM console and added ios project into it. Downloaded the GoogleService-Info.plist and added it to the xamarin forms ios project directory and set the build action as Bundlesource . On Info.plist enabled remote notification background mode. Added FirebaseAppDelegateProxyEnabled in the app’s Info.plist file and set it to No. Created a provisioning profile and distribution certificate and installed it into the keychain access. Also, mapped these certificates in the project options. Uploaded .p12 certificate in FCM console. Added codes for handling push notification in AppDelegate.cs . My Code: [Register("AppDelegate")] public partial class

I want to implement Push Notifications in Xamarin.Forms. It appears I need to use the NuGet package Xamarin.Firebase.Messaging - as referenced, for example, in this tutorial: [this video] However, if I try and add this package to a vanilla Xamarin.Forms app, I get this error: Package Xamarin.Firebase.Messaging 71.1740.0 is not compatible with netstandard2.0 I found this about this error, it's 2 years old but isn't really helpful: [LINK] I also can't comment on that post as the login appears to be broken. How can I fix this error? (as an aside if anyone has a better suggestion for sending cross platform notifications in Xamarin.Forms I welcome it, I've tried AppCenter.ms but couldn't get that work
