@YashGoyal I suspect you had the influence set far too high when you initially enabled Proportional Editing and distorted far more of the icing mesh than you intended. You can change the circle size that appears by scrolling the mouse wheel and it can be scrolled so large that it disappears from the viewport altogether. That will distort a very large area of the mesh without moving the mouse far when you grab a vertex. Delete the icing, separate another section from the donut and try again starting here [this video] .

I'm new at Blender and was incredibly happy to finish a beautiful donut animation this morning. However, after that I planned to make a new one to repeat what I learned, and I have been stuck 6h adding the icing... Each time I've made some shape to the donut (with the proportional editing and the shrink fatten tool) and duplicate part of the donut to make the icing ( [this video] ) both layers get stuck in each other. If I don't give it any shape before (so only duplicate the upper part of the donut without making any bumps on it before) it works fine and the donut and the icing stay as separate pieces. I am doing this Blender Guru Tutorial "How To make a Donut". At about Blender Beginner Tutorial Part 3: Modifiers 03:20 minutes [this video] Blender Guru is making a duplicate of a selection (separate the donut). I am trying to do the same but somehow I cannot make the duplicate.
