What it is

A short tutorial from The Construct that shows how to find a 3D model (for example in SketchUp's 3D Warehouse), clean it up, and load it into a Gazebo simulation in five steps. It walks through the model files Gazebo needs and links the related SketchUp and Blender downloads.

Hi, one procedure to create custom Gazebo models is the following: create the dae file of the model. For this there are several ways. One way is to use sketchup to find a model of the object you need, then download it, adapt it a little bit with blender, and save it. Once you have the proper dae file for your model, you need to create a series of files that define the model. You need to create the model.conf, the model.sdf and the meshes directory where to put your dae file. Then you have to place those files in the ~/.gazebo/models directory in order to be able to use it in an sdf .world file. Final step is to include the model in your world file Because all that is a little confusing, we c

Hello, ROS community! I was learning the tutorial [LINK] about the placing models in some orders and I wanted to implement it in my project. I took some models from 3D google repository and corrected them by following this tutorial [this video] . My problem is the model ( white_shelf2 ) can't be rotated on 90 degrees. I tried differently to fix the numbers of orientation (yaw exactly) in the world file (below it attached), but I cant still understand why the number were not published in Gazebo. <?xml version="1.0" ?> <sdf version="1.5"> <world name="default"> <include> <uri>model://ground_plane</uri> </include> <include> <uri>model://sun</uri> </include> <include> <uri>model://market_layout</uri>

Hi all, I'm working on Ubuntu 14.04 with Gazebo 2.2.3 and I want to load the 3D models provided as .obj files by this dataset: [LINK] I followed this tutorial: [this video] after that, I can see the model I created in the list, but if I try to insert it in the scene the window becomes black and gazebo gets stuck. The .dae file is 107mb, so maybe it's too big. Please, can someone point me out a solution? Thanks, Federico Originally posted [LINK] by schizzz8 [LINK] on ROS Answers with karma: 183 on 2017-05-22 Post score: 0
