Why Blender Stack Exchange recommends it

Blender Stack Exchange answerers link it when someone needs to link or amplify one property from another, such as exceeding a constraint's influence limit or animating several properties at once.

Recommended by 3 people across 3 different months, 2014 to 2017.

What it is

A 2013 Blender tutorial by Spunky Kangaroo (Charles) explaining how to use drivers to control one object's property by changing another's. It covers using drivers to enhance rigs and constraints, and shows how to write Python expressions for more advanced drivers.

Use F-Curve Drivers. [this video] Use a scripted expression on the OWNER object's driver with the Target object set. By animating the TARGET object, the OWNER responds accordingly to the driver. Eg: Two Cubes, CubeA and CubeB: Add SINGLE DRIVER to CubeB's x rotation transform box. Go to Graph window. Change from F-Curveto Drivers. Select it's X Rotation in the list on left side. Scroll down in the right side panel to find Drivers. Set Ob to CubeA Change Type to X Rotation (since we added single drive to x rotation). In the field under Script Expression: Delete 0.00 and write var * 2 (var is the name of variable box we changed the ob/type in). Now rotate on CubeA's x axis. CubeB rotates on the x a

You can actually quite a bit with just a few drivers. Result I'm not going to explain the entire process, but I'll cover a lot of the more interesting points. If you haven't already, learn how drivers work [LINK] (here's a tutorial I made [this video] ). They're an extremely powerful way to control different object attributes. For the barrel recoil, I created a driver that makes the barrel follows the position of an empty (the one moving back and forth). The position of each section of the barrel is just controlled by a custom curve (offset for the back section so it follows slower). This is the curve of one section: There are three bullets at the beginning of the animation hidden in the back of

Although I have not done this many personally, I am aware that this type of thing is handled using drivers. Here is a tutorial I found. [this video] and some documentation on Blender manuals [LINK] . Hope this helps to get you on the right track.
