Why Blender Stack Exchange recommends it

Blender Stack Exchange users cite it as the tutorial they followed when their IK setup, especially pole targets on legs and elbows, did not behave as it did in the video.

What it is

A beginner Blender 2.92 tutorial by Kekdot on adding a rig to a custom character and setting up inverse kinematics for the legs and arms. It also covers a foot position constraint and adding a root bone so the character can be posed and animated easily.

I'm trying to rig a humanoid low poly character in Blender 2.82, starting with its legs. For this, I've been following two different tutorials on YouTube but they fail me at the same point : Rig ANY Character for Animation [LINK] - Easy Character Rigging with IK [this video] Everything is going well up until I try to set the pole target. At first, there's this pole angle issue when I first select the knee pole bone. The leg is not facing the pole target but I understand that I can fix this by changing either the pole angle in the IK constraint window or changing the roll angle of the bone in edit mode so its x-axis is facing the pole bone. OK. But once this has been fixed, the whole leg behave we

I set up this inverse kinematics (IK) in the left foot of my char rig by following a [this video] , but the rig is not working as it is working in the video. The bone is bending in a different direction. blend file download [LINK]

There is a problem with IK of my character's elbow. Firstly should say that the whole armature and legs IK works pretty good. The problem is that when i add elbow pole target bone to the forearm IK constraint, elbow stops rotating as it should, it just stays straight (see screenshots). But when I delete elbow pole target it begin to turn properly as it should. Who knows what problem may be there? Thanks in advance.
