Why Blender Stack Exchange recommends it

Blender Stack Exchange users link it as a step-by-step rigging walkthrough, and many questions come from people stuck at specific timestamps such as automatic weights and Keep Offset.

What it is

A 17-minute Blender tutorial by Sebastian Lague that builds a simple character rig from a provided starting file. It covers bones, IK legs and arms with pole targets, constraints, and parenting the mesh with automatic weights. The description includes an FAQ for common rigging snags.

I watched the same Tutorial ( [this video] ) and spent days and many hours trying to figure the same problem out. I am a noob and this was my first rigging so that didn't help either. What fixed the deformation for me was making sure the joints (Elbow, Knee etc.) were bent (even slightly) in the direction they are intended to bend. When you parent the mesh to the bones with automatic weights or any other way with the pole targets set the mesh deforms. This deformation does not happen until the pole target is set though. In that tutorial they are set before the parenting of the mesh. This is because blender (I don't why) turns them off target which twists the mesh in the direction blender turned t

You have to rig your model (plenty tutorials online on rigging characters) Or Separate the objects you want to move from the original mesh (edit mode, select faces, edges or vertices that you want, press P, separate by selection) and then you can control that object independtly (arms, legs or other) as they are now different objects. to perform an animation, you must watch tutorials on keyframe an object, but basically, you move an object (rotation and translation) to where you want, select the frame on the timeline, and press I to keyframe that position on that time. If you repeat this process for several times, Blender will interpolate the motion you keyframed. For better control, you migh

[this video] Here is a good tutorial that will explain everything way better than I can here. He sets up a rig with IK constraints, and also shows how to properly weight paint your character.

Select the bones and change pivot point as 3DCursor which on the origin point Scale bones on X-Axis and type "-1" as value [this video] Also this tutoriol will helps you for more information about armature and bones.

Here is a great tutorial as well on how to create rigs and how weight painting and vertex groups work. [this video] He does a much better job than I could do here. If you have any questions about the process though feel free to start a question and let me know and I can help you out.

Could use more info. And if you can, can you share the .blend file? Or just delete the armature and copy this guy: [this video]

I am creating men/woman character using MakeHuman tool and import into the blender tool. I am new to the blender and MakeHuman. So I followed the steps given in the below youtube video tutorial to work with blender. [this video] After creating Armature -> Human(Meta-Rig) I Match the bones into the character. In Edit mode I pressed "G" to move the character. But other parts are moving in that character except the eyes, nose and fingers. What may be the problem. Can anyone fix me to solve this or can you give me the steps by step process to do the walk cycle a men/woman character?

I'm following this rigging tutorial [this video] . Everything worked perfectly until 10:40, where the uploader asks to set parent with automatic weights. This completely deforms the mesh, as shown below. aa [LINK] [LINK] bb [LINK] [LINK] What is wrong? Link for the .blend [LINK]

I've been following this tutorial here [this video] and around 10:16 he presses Ctr P to set the parent to armature with automatic weights. When I try to follow I don't get that same menu. I've checked that I'm in the correct mode and the correct objects are highlighted. What am I doing wrong?

Here is the blend file: [LINK] . I am getting the "bone heat weighting: failed to find solution for one or more bones" error when I click "Armature Deform: With Automatic Weights." I see from google this is a very common issue, but all of the solutions I've found are different from one another or sound model-specific. I've tried many of the methods I've seen suggested (removing doubles, recalculating normals, and adding a subsurface modifier), but so far those don't seem to work (and the other solutions suggested start to sound complex). I followed a tutorial online for the rigging-- this one, [this video] . I made the model in zbrush. One of the answers suggested to not even try if the model is
