Robot Tentacle in Blender (Tutorial EN)
Why Blender Stack Exchange recommends it
Blender Stack Exchange answerers point people to it as a simple, concrete recipe for segmented robot limbs and tentacles that bend along a curve and can then be rigged.

What it is
A short Blender tutorial showing how to build a tentacle or robot limb by combining an Array modifier with a Curve modifier, so the segmented mesh follows a Bezier curve. It is a quick screen-recorded walkthrough by the AgenZasBrothers channel.

I haven't explained how to make the legs because you didn't ask, but you could do as explained here: [this video]

Unless you have good reasons to keep some meshes separate (like a modifier that must not affect the other meshes), it would be simpler to join them. For the second question, it really depends on what you want, it will deform but it won't necessarily be a problem so you should try this solution, on this topic you can follow this very simple tutorial [this video] by AgenZasBrothers that explains how to create robot limbs with Array and Curve modifiers, maybe at the end parent the vertices to bones so that you can always come back to a Rest pose. Also maybe this answer [LINK] I gave on how to rig a cartoon-like limb may interest you.

You could use the technic explained here [this video] , which is basically create your object, create a straight curve: [LINK] Give your object an Array modifier with Fit Type > Fit Curve and select the curve: [LINK] Give your object a Curve modifier with the curve as Curve Object : [LINK] Create a bone at the tip of the curve, select it in Edit mode, back to Object mode select the curve, switch to Edit mode, select the tip and press Ctrl H > Hook to Selected Object Bone : [LINK] This makes the bone the controller of the vertex, of course it probably needs a vertex with its controller at the middle as well: [LINK]

I'm watching this tentacle tutorial [this video] video. Most of it is working fine; I have a Bezier curve, my tentacle follows it, and so on. However, I have one problem. In the video, the tentacle is "around" the curve, as shown. The tentacle exactly follows the curve. When I do it, it looks like this: My tentacle seems to be translated away from the curve. This probably isn't a huge problem, but I would like to know why this is happening. To clarify, I want to understand why the video's tentacles fit around the Bezier, but my Bezier is outside of the tentacle.

Robot in question: [LINK] I'd like to move about the robot like this: [this video] 1:50 to 2:00 How is the armature and rigging applied? Also, how are the tentacles joined to both the main body and its "feet"?
