Blender Tutorial: Procedural UV Unwrapping with Geometry Nodes
Why Blender Stack Exchange recommends it
Blender Stack Exchange answerers point people to it when they need to create or apply UV coordinates to procedurally generated geometry inside Geometry Nodes.
Recommended by 3 people across 3 different months, 2022 to 2023.
What it is
A short Entagma tutorial by Manuel on the UV Unwrap node added in Blender 3.3 Alpha, applied to procedurally built rocks. It covers building the rock, remeshing and smoothing it with Geometry Nodes, then creating the UV unwrap and a material that uses it.

You have probably only two option here ... Generated texture coordinates with Texture node set to Sphere projection. [LINK] or UV unwrap node ... just manipulation under GN is quite limited [LINK] [LINK] [LINK] For more info [this video] about UV under GN In general I would say just Box projection should work the best, but it didn't ...

As Markus von Broady pointed out to me (thanks to him), my problem is that I have not unwrapped my procedural plane. After a short search on the internet I found this tutorial [this video] that explains step by step how to unwrap an object from Goemetry Node in blender 3.3 alpha. First, we need to add an Attribute Node to the pepper material definition with the name UVvector for example: [LINK] Then in Geometry Node, add a UV Unwrap node and link it to Material Output. [LINK] Finally, the name of the UVvector attribute must be added to the definition of the output modifier [LINK] And it all works! [LINK]

I am attempting to create UVs for a series of 3D brush strokes. I only have the mesh data which is built like amorphous tubes as seen in the images below. If I were doing just a few of these I suppose I would define a seam and unwrap, however I have hundreds of these strokes so this is not feasible. Anyone have ideas of how I can create some cylindrical UV coordinates out of these meshes? Thanks! [LINK] My idea was to try to generate a spline along this path and then generate UVs from that, but I do not know how I can do that! Edit: So I was able to get part of the way there, using this tutorial (which is very good): [this video] However I still have some issues: This method uses world normal to

I am struggling with getting UV maps and smooth shading to work properly at the same time for a mesh generated along a curve using geometry nodes. I have seen some solutions/workarounds ( [LINK] ), but I cannot get them to work for my case without other unwanted side effects. People have solved the UV mapping by opening the closed curve used as the profile for the curve_to_mesh node and then combined the spline parameters for the original curve and the profile curve into a vector and passed that out as an attribute to use for UV in the shader node tree. zeroskilz presents a useful node that does that in the thread mentioned above. The first problem is that using an open curve creates a "crea

I found alternative dirty solution to create UV on realized instances. Its based on splitting object by normals what can be used as a seam. Hope its not magically working only for me :) sources: [this video] [LINK] [LINK] [LINK]
