Why Blender Stack Exchange recommends it

Blender Stack Exchange users link it when someone asks how to render a stack of 2D images such as MRI or confocal slices as a 3D volume using the Voxel Data texture.

Recommended by 2 people across 2 different months, 2014 to 2020.

What it is

A 19-minute timelapse screen recording by e5dy showing how to turn an MRI head scan into a volume render in Blender. The scan comes from ImageJ's sample data, is exported as a JPEG image stack, and is loaded into a cube using Blender's Voxel Data texture. There is no narration to follow.

I guess without a bit of scripting the outcome is not what you want. If you are going for a surface model the texturing will be the tricky part. As for voxel visualisation this [this video] might be helpful (just mute the audio).

The link above is well explained in the following video. [this video] However, this is not a promising solution since this uses Blender Internal Renderer. Any Cycles/EEVEE solution is more preferable.

Do you mind adding a sentence to your question to clarify if you want an actual 3D object generated or if you want to use volume texturing as in the video [this video] posted by user2859.

I am using Blender to create a 3D volume of brain using this tutorial: Mri to blender [this video] . I am importing my model in WPF project based on this tutorial: Inserting 3D Models in Expression Blend [LINK] . When I export the created file in .obj file from Blender and import in MSblend, see a solid cube instead of the rendered volume. Thanks. My setup is Windows7 x64, Microsoft Blend 2012, Blender 2.77

Cites Daniel · 2020-04 · Blender Stack Exchange · on “No Voxel Data texture in Blender 2.82?”

I would like to import a 3D object into Blender. My object is formed by a sequence of images - a confocal stack, similar to an MRI scan (there are no surfaces, just a cloud of voxels). I know that what I want to do could be done in Blender 2.79 by giving a cube a texture called: Voxel Data, and then importing the sequence of images. They do it right in the first minute of this video (you may want to mute it): [this video] And also here: Rendering stack of 2D images as a 3D object? [LINK] Particularly this image is relevant: [LINK] However, everything looks very different in the current version of Blender, 2.82. I cannot see the option to edit the Density , Reflection , or Emission properties of a
